Expressions of interest to organize the 2019 ASM at Uluru for the week beginning Monday July 8, 2019 are now open.
The team of organisers consists of:
- Scientific Convenor
- Deputy Convenor
- Industry Liaison
This represents a great opportunity for motivated IRs to gain experience into the process of conference organization and is
great for developing networking, scientific and educational skills and industry relations. It’s also a fun and rewarding behind
the scenes insight into a national scientific conference. During the process, the ASM organizing committee will report to the
IRSA executive, and there will be mentorship by IRs with conference organizing experience available.
This year, due to APSCVIR 2018 in Auckland there is ample time, with an extra year to prepare for the IRSA 2019 ASM.
Could interested members please contact Hilary Baldwin, Hilary.Baldwin@ranzcr.edu.au in the first instance, with a CV
and short personal statement (less than 500 words) by Oct 1st 2017.

The inaugural Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) Workshop was held during the weekend of 18th-19th March 2017 in Brisbane at the St Andrews War Memorial Hospital. This event was a conjoined effort between Unitingcare Medical Imaging, Brisbane, The Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, and IRSA. The workshop was heavily oversubscribed and very successful, attracting IRs, nurses and radiographers of all ages and skill levels from around Australia and New Zealand. This controversial ground-breaking procedure was demonstrated and outlined in a considered, collaborative and highly ethical manner by a dedicated group of speakers which included IRs, a radiographer and a urologist.
Incorporating focused lectures, discussion sessions and live cases, the workshop provided an outstanding professional educational experience, which should serve as a model for future workshops of its kind. Co-conveners Dr. Nick Brown, Dr. Duncan Walker and Dr. Glen Schlaphoff enthusiastically delivered a CPD experience, which was highly acclaimed by attendees, and a second workshop is planned for September 2017.
IRSA would like to congratulate all involved.
IRs interested in being involved in the ongoing clinical trials should contact
Dr. Nick Brown at: firstname.lastname@example.org
IRSA supports this vitally important collaborative activity for all IR procedures and collection of data for research is critical for the advancement of our specialty
